LED LIGHT THERAPY

LED light therapy is a popular skin care treatment that uses special light sources to stimulate healing in cells and treat a variety of skin conditions. It typically uses different wavelengths of visible or near-infrared light, such as red, blue and infrared. This is known as photobiology. The energy absorbed by the cells is utilized to promote healing and relief from topical skin concerns like inflammation, wrinkles, acne, and other sun damage.

The beneficial effects of LED light therapy stem from the light’s ability to increase circulation and reduce inflammation. LED lights stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, two proteins that are responsible for plumping, firming, and toning skin. The red light has been used to treat sun-damaged skin and reduces wrinkles, while the blue light has been used to decrease the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes, which can cause breakouts. Infrared light has been used to reduce inflammation and even heal scars.

Each wavelength uses a specific light energy to stimulate a physiological response within the skin. Depending on the individual condition and skin type, the number of sessions and intervals are unique and personalized. Treatments are generally every 2-3 weeks, with maintenance treatments once a month or as needed.

Because LED treatments are gentle and non-invasive, there is no downtime. The treatments offer an array of benefits for skin issues, ranging from acne to wrinkles and even scarring or trauma.

LED light therapy is both a safe and effective treatment for many skin care conditions. It is recommended that individuals consult a physician or skin care professional in order to determine the best protocol, because the usage of the light, number of sessions, and intervals are all customized to the individual.
